Earthquake
Relief Activities :
October 8 2005,
08:52 am, tragedy hits Pakistan. Massive earthquake inflicted a
colossal loss of life and property in AJ&K and NAs of Pakistan.
Despite the hard fact that the structure of the organization was
severely damaged by the quake in terms of financial losses and
human resource, yet it was able to establish the Disaster
Management Cell (DMC) with a profound sense of the scale and
gravity of the disaster.
Although the beans were not so lavishly available at that
time, yet, in spite of this, the organization utilized its limited
resources in such a way to get maximum out put. The drive of
philanthropy and care being prevailed since the time of disaster
was picked and it is indeed heartening to see that the
organization was able to relieve the pain amongst the masses to a
good extent. Brief details of activities carried out since
disaster is as under.
Right after the quake, the available strength of
organization, along with other agencies and community fully
participated in rescue activities in the city area of
Muzaffarabad. We are proud to say that we have been able to save
many precious lives by retrieving injured from the debris.
The organization has carried a series of relief activities in
quake hit areas particularly in Halqa No. 2 with emphasis on Union
Council Kahori and Talgraa’n and Maakri, Chehla, Jalalabad and
Naya Mohallah in Muzaffarabad city. Members of DMC have paid
frequent visit of badly hit areas of Halqa No. 2 like Union
Councils Kahori, Talgraa’n and Said Pur etc. and Ambore, Maakri,
Sangni Mera, Chehla and Naya Mohallah where they have distributed
large quantity of life saving drugs and food items. Besides, 1050
tents and hard cash amounting to PKR 0.950 Million has also been
distributed among the quake victims in the above mentioned areas.
Needless to mention that these items were collected by the
organization through its own sources.
